About dolomite

The mineral dolomite crystallizes in the trigonal-rhombohedral system. It forms white, gray to pink, crystals. Dolomite is a double carbonate, having a different structural arrangement, and it does not rapidly dissolve or effervesce (fizz) in dilute hydrochloric acid. Crystal twinning is common. A solid solution series exists between dolomite and iron rich ankerite.

Dolomite is used as an ornamental stone, a concrete aggregate, a source of magnesium oxide and in the Pidgeon process for the production of magnesium. It is an important petroleum reservoir rock, and serves as the host rock for large strata-bound Mississippi Valley-Type (MVT) ore deposits of base metals such as lead, zinc, and copper. Where calcite limestone is uncommon or too costly, dolomite is sometimes used in its place as a flux for the smelting of iron and steel. Large quantities of processed dolomite are used in the production of float glass.

Dolomite beneficiation equipments consist of jaw crusher, inflatable flotation machine, mine ball mill, dry magnetic separator and spiral classifier, etc. These Zenith's equipments had been reached international advanced level and has low cost advantages.

Dolomite contains many impurities. In dolomite beneficiation process, heavy media separation and flotation will be used to process dolomite. The floating ores are regarded as waste products, the same with the ores which come from two previous sieving paragraphs and whose grain size is 12 mm and 6 mm. The sinking ores come through the following crushing and sieving work then are processed into finished ores. The ore process flow uses the principle that is crushing- ore washing-sieving. According to the different uses, the products in corresponding grain level will be produced. What's more, the ores are quite pure so that the ore washing work is not needed. The raw ores come through jaw crusher for coarse crushing, bar screen for pre-screening. After the medium crushing by cone crusher, the products come through the first sieving and are classified into three grades, that are -20mm,-50+20mm and +50mm. The products that are in -50+20mm level and +50mm level will be merged then come through the second sieving to get the products whose grain size is 10~30mm、25~50mm or 40~80mm. And the ore grains in -20mm level come through the third sieving to get the products whose grain size is 0~5mm、5~13mm、10~20mm. Among the six kinds of products, the ores in 50~25mm level and 30~10mm level are used as dolomites which are used for smelting. The ores in 0~5mm are used for sintering. The ores in 80~40mm are provided to the users who have special demands. Other ore products are used as building stone. The dolomite ores that contains many impurities can be processed by heavy media separation and flotation.
